The party is made up of Ivellios who is a half elven bard, Liandra who is a full elven sorcerer with her familiar ferret Cleo, Claymore who is a warforged and Orin who is a Psion with a glowing amethys for an eye.
A big Festival is going on in Moonwatch and we (Ivellios and Liandra) were asked to find out what the Lord Oakerst is celebrating. He has no children etc coming of age or getting married, etc..We were told to hire bodyguards. We hired Claymore for 25% of any take and Orin for 15% of any take plus a chance to look at all gems.
We take the ferry across the river to the opposite side of the river from Sharn towards Moonwatch. We then follow the River to Moonwatch. Moonwatch is about 300 meters in size. Lord's house is about half the size of "Dragonmarked House" in Sharn
There is one tavern and inn called The Leaping Pony.
We go into the tavern for a bite to eat. It is extremely neat and orderly. It is not busy this time of the year. There is a town drunk in the corner. Far back corner is switchback staircases up to where rooms are. The Barkeep is a skinny 13 year ols with a full head of hair. He has a whiney high pitched voice. There is one other guy in a corner drinking ale.
Ivellios orders fruity drink. Liandra orders stout ale (orcs drink it) Eldarian Reach - she takes one drink and gets dizzy and a slight headache. She pours the rest into an empty waterskin for later. Orin orders tea. Claymore orders nothing. We order fruit, cheese, bird and loaves of wheat bread to eat.
The man in the corner comes over and talks to us. He is slightly drunk. He says this town is very borning. He introduces himself as Detair D'Aragan. He says he is a cousin of Ivellios and Liandra. He was assigned to this town by the "House" to keep tabs on the town. They achieved something. They kept a secret from the Detair. THe Lord sent his young son and daughter with a traveler into a local ravine where apparently something has come to fruition. This ravine is off the old road where there were Goblins. They should be coming back any day now. We need to entertain at this event. The Lord and Lady both have mistress and lovers. The town does not manuever at all. The parents were political but both are dead. They are content. This is boring to Detair. Detair says that Ivellios and Liandra are to be with the Lord and Lady for the evening. They will entertain for the guests and then spend the evening with the Lord and Lady. We are expected at the Manor by 8 P.M.
We drop off our traveling items into our rooms on the third floor. Liandra managed to rented the whole floor so none of us would be bothered.
People in the town try to not be attractive in this town. Ivellios is looking for someone to "escort" He finds a farmboy who is not used to strangers. He propositions the farm boy but is flatly refused. While out and about Ivellios hears rumors about Lord and Lady Oakherst shacking up with other people. This is the first party since he was appointed Lord. Ivellios performs for the town and gets 3 copper for group funds.
Orin and his eye go swimming in the river. They find no information while they are out.
Liandra and Claymore go and chat with the local priest. He was quite informative. Lord and Lady Oakherts are friendly and kind when they do come out. They are very private couple. Niether of them have come to services in over a year to year and half. Their children traveled to the ravine with a ranger who came to town. There have been many rumors about the ravine. Many have explored and have never come back. The celebration this evening includes shop owners and a few of the prosperous farmers have been invited. Very humble folk. They want to keep the town small. There have been no real additions to the town by way of people moving in. People do move away however.
The Oakherst Mansion is quite small in comparison to those in Sharn. When we arrived, we sent the hirelings to the servants area. There is a cook and two maids. The maid chats with Orin. She tells him the children left and they got a letter saying the children will be returning this evening.
Ivellios and Liandra attend the party and perform. Ivellios sings and plays his harp. Liandra does many magic tricks for everyone. Many people's jokes revolve around fruit. They say the Lord is a fruit. Those jokes amuse the guests to no end. Ivellios offended people at the party.
Liandra speaks to Lord Oakherst to thank him for the invitation to perform and be a guest at his celebration. Liandra asks him about why his children went off with a traveling Ranger. He said sent his children to the ravine for an adventure. Yeah, adventure...that is it. They are traveling with a Ranger named Sir Bradford. Liandra mentions that is good because Rangers can track. She asked where the children were since this celebration was for their return. He says they received a letter saying that they would be returning tonight. Although it was in either of his children's hand, he is assuming it is from Sir Bradfor. Lord Oakherst is quite distracted. He takes Liandra on a tour of his home. They appear to go around a particular room and when Liandra asks about this room, Lord Oakherst explains that his older son is sick with a contageous disease and he sent the children to aquire a something to heal his son. Liandra asks about why he allows his wife to sleep with other men and he explains that he has not touched his wife in years. They are just friends and she is too old for him now. Liandra tries flirting with him but he is not interested in her at all. He begs forgiveness for his distraction and she says that she understands completely. She also ofers her party to go find his children if they do not return. He thanks her but assures her that they will return that evening. He then asks if she can find her way back to the inn as he is quite tired and goes into a spare bedroom to sleep. Liandra finds Orin and Claymore. They go back to the door. They try to open the door and it does not work. Liandra casts Prestigidtation to make the door sand so they can go into the room. The door was arcane locked and the entire room is warded. They can not get in. THey prepare to leave.
During the time Liandra was with Lord Oakherst, Mrs. Oakerst takes Ivellios off to "see her new silk sheets and bedposts." His "appraisal" of them was the most "astute" since Sir Bradford...According to to Lady Oakherst her husband has not touched a woman since "the boy" showed up. When the boy got sick he sent THEIR children to get a "fruit" to heal the boy.
Ivellios meets the party down in the lobby of the house as they were leaving. Ivellios takes a drink from Liandra's ale waterskin. Drained it.
The next day Ivellios has a hangover- supprise, the bitches about it. Liandra went and got Ivellios an alche-seltzer from the chemist. A bit later we get food - cheese and fruit. Claymore eats a rasberry.
Liandra writes a note to Lord Oakherst to see if his children have returned. As she was asking for a courrier, one arrives with a letter from Lord Oakherst "Lady D'Phiallen, it would seem that they have not returned. I will humbly accept your offer and would like an answer if you're going down, head down immediately. If you do not return in a weeks time, I will assume you're lost. If you succeed, you will be richly rewarded. Yours always, Lord Oakerst."
Liandra sends a note back "What exactly are we bringing back? What fruit are you looking for? We want to return with the appropriate vegitation."
Later the corrior returns with another note.."The 'fruit' as you say, is very harsh - my son is a strapping man full of vigor. I want his ruby-red vestement returned." We discuss the fruit and many things come up...Apple? Pomagranite? Rassberry? no, probably not that."
Kiandra sends a note back "Due to the Bard's 'escapades' last night, we must wait until tommorow. We leave at first light."
Morning comes. The barkeep tries to make Liandra pay more than she should. Claymore steps up to the bar and appears more menacing than ussual and says that she does not owe that much. Liandra pays 2 gold for his services.
They then head out to the dark ravine. It is a couple hour walk. Edge of woods a small band of goblins. They run towards us screaming in their language. The bard say the goblins say we are lunch. One is facinated by the Ivellios. One is killed from Liandra's Magic Missle. Orin mind blasts the one that is facinated. Claymore rushes the Goblin and cuts him in half.
The party reach the ravine and is a good stretch of 100 foot ravine. Many columns are there that have fallen. There are four still standing and they have dwarven runes on the columns. Ivellios figures out that this is a place he learnid about in his training. There used to be a huge citadel here of an Elven blasphemous order of monks. Elvish monks who worshiped the dragon below. People never returned if they went in there. Unknown catalyst sunk the citadel into the ground. They find a rope attached to a column. The party then goes down. Liandra goes first.
Liandra reaches bottom first. She is attacked by six rodents of unusual size. Claymore slid down the rope and smushed one rat by landing on it. Ivellios stays up at the top and sings for us. Claymore keeps yelling at him to come down. He finally comes down... when the battle is over as ussual. Ivellios wants to make rat hats out of all of them. He sings something about R.O.U.S.E. After all of us laugh out butts off, he pushes the last rat off the ledge.
The bard decides we need light so he lit up the golum (Claymore). Nice spot light! The bard said that the golum shines in the darkness and the darkness could not comprehend it.
The short sandy ledge is long. Steps lead down. As we reach the bottom, there is a courtyard and the citadel rises out of the darkness. The door to the citadel is in front of them. The golum takes a step and falls into a pit that has about 10 feet drop. Orin follows immediately. The bard starts singing and Liandra tries to throw the bard into the pit with the rest of them and falls into the pit. A rat of unusual size appears same as before. The bard continues to sing and Claymore keeps telling him to come dowwn and fight. Claymore picjs the rat up and throws it at Ivellios knocking him down. He pushes the rat back down into the pit just as Liandra comes out. Orin tries to disable the rat and disables the golum as well. The bard shoots Golum with his shortbow. The rat is alreadty dead at this point. Claymore when he comes too tries to kill the Bard. Liandra steps in and says that the bard was shooting at the rat and missed. Claymore believes her.
Ah, all this and we still are not in the citidel yet nor have we found the "fruit".
